For those who are members of communitites such as Facebook or Twitter, you have to make sure that you know what you are putting on the web, if you are looking to keep your privacy and your private life, private. Many social media sites put out a lot more information about members than they may know about. So, before you join, or if you are already a member of these social networking and social media sites, make sure to check your privacy settings, in order to put out only the information that you want everyone, not only your friends (but anyone who looks at your profile) to know.Check out this link here.
So, if you do not already have a membership on these sites, make sure you fully are aware of the amount of information that is going to be put out there about you, and your private life, and determine whether or not you want this out to the public. Many sites put out your full name, email, address, phone number, age, and many other personal facts about you; and, a couple sites also sell these things to third party sites. So, before you join, make sure you know all of these things, before you enter your information.
If you are already a member, you have to make sure that only the information you want others to know about you, is actually put on your site. You have to check the privacy settings, and you have to read the user agreement to know what the site owner can, and what they can’t, share with third parties, and with other members of the social media site.
So, before you put up some information, make sure you want people to know about it, and know your rights on these social media sites you are a member of.
